A Day Programme (often called a day service, day activity programme, or community participation service) is designed to support disabled people to live meaningful, connected lives during the day, usually on weekdays.
Programmes vary by provider and region but they share common features and principles aligned with Enabling Good Lives, Whāia Te Ao Mārama, and person-centred practice.
Who can attend a day service?
Participants may include people with:
- Intellectual or learning disabilities
- Physical disabilities
- Sensory disabilities
- Neurodiversity (e.g. autism)
- Multiple or complex support needs
Spaces are limited and attendance can be full-time or part-time depending on individual needs, funding and availability.
