The Disability system in New Zealand is complex and involves a disabled person and their family/whanau being able to navigate different agencies and departments to access support related to their well-being. We have included links to the most common Government Ministries or agencies that you may deal with here.
ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation)
ACC help prevent injuries and get New Zealanders and visitors back to everyday life if they’ve had an accident. Everyone in New Zealand is covered by ACC’s no-fault scheme if they’re injured in an accident. This includes children, beneficiaries and students. It doesn’t matter if they’re working, unemployed or retired.

Auckland Regional Dental Service provides free oral health services for children and young people across the Auckland region. It supports enrolment, check-ups, and treatment, and is now part of Health New Zealand’s Auckland dental services.

Healthline
Healthline is a free 24/7 health advice and information service in Aotearoa New Zealand. People can call if they are worried about their own health or someone else’s, need advice about what to do next, cannot get to a GP, or need medicine advice. Healthline also offers a callback option, interpreter support, communication disability support through NZ Relay, and a Māori pathway that connects callers with a Māori clinician from 8am to 8pm.
